Hip2bē Resource Pack Print
Category: Science

Description of project:

A resource pack was assembled and handed out to teachers as part of the Hip2bē road show conducted in September and October last year by Mark Shuttleworth. Through the road show, Mark?s vision of exciting and emphasizing the role of maths and science as a formula for success was linked to examples of his own life, as well as his trip to the International Space Station in early 2002. The resource pack consisted of 10 informative posters on the Solar System, four booklets containing practical classroom exercises and a small book, kindly donated by Maskew Miller Longman, on ?Explore beyond the Earth?.

The Shuttleworth Foundation?s involvement:

The Shuttleworth Foundation funded the artwork, printing and assembling of the resource packs.

Aims and objectives:

This project aimed to provide teachers with practical science resources for teachers to use in the classroom.

Evaluation:

The resource packs were eagerly received by the teachers and many wrote letters of thanks and appreciation. Follow-up workshops (link to Absa workshops reported on earlier in this copy), in conjunction with the ABSA Foundation, are taking place this year as a means to support these teachers in the teaching of maths and science.
