Description of project:

The MTN ScienCentre based in Century City is developing an interactive exhibition documenting inventions that have changed the world over the last 3 million years. Included in this project is a series of workshops that will assist educators in taking the learners back into the schools after having visited the exhibition, and continue classroom learning within the context of the curriculum. The exhibition will travel to parts of South Africa so that the topic of inventions can receive maximum exposure with the hope to provide insights into endless possibilities for learners and future inventors.

The Shuttleworth Foundation's involvement:

The Shuttleworth Foundation is funding the development of the exhibition, the associated learning workshops and part of its travel.

Aims and objectives:

The aim of the project is to provide visual interpretations of inventions to aid learning, enthuse learners within the framework of the curriculum by combining history with science and technology.

Status:

A database of inventions has been developed and design of the exhibitions is currently underway.
