Description of project:

SAASTA has for the past few years successfully organized the annual National Science Olympiad. An important aspect of this project is the educator workshops run at various venues throughout the nine provinces. These workshops are aimed at informing educators about the Olympiad and how it works. The educators will also be equipped with the necessary skills to assist and encourage their learners to particpate in the Olympiad.

The Shuttleworth Foundation's involvement:

The Foundation is funding all the educator workshops that are part of the 2004 National Science Olympiad.

Aims and objectives:

• To encourage more schools to get involved in the Olympiad.
• To equip educators with skills and knowledge to assist their learners to get involved in the Olympiad.
