Site specs

The Shuttleworth Foundation website has been constructed using open source tools and applications in line with the organisation's commitment to and support of open source technology and principles.

The website is based on the Drupal open source content management system, which has been customised to meet our specific requirements. This CMS is written in PHP and makes use of a MySQL database.

All content for the website was created using open source applications including OpenOffice.org for word processing, the GIMP for image manipulation and Vim for coding, and IEs4Linux for compatibility testing - all running on the Ubuntu Linux open source operating system.

Finally, all imagery on the site is provided by third party creators who have made their work available to us via Creative Commons licenses and the Flickr on-line image management service.

The site is best viewed with a minimum screen resolution of 800x600, using Firefox or Flock.

Download the latest Firefox browser from the Mozilla website - free and open source.

Download the Flock browser from the Flock website - also free and open source.

Every effort has been made to maintain compatibility with common proprietary browsers, without diverging from modern web standards.

If you have trouble using our website with certain web browsers or other software, please contact us. We appreciate your feedback.
